My school just switched to Moodle when I got here. It’s apparently much nicer. The… older professors are having some problems learning the system though
Does it really mean you’re old if you knew it as LMS? Ugh, I guess I’m old then…..
I remember, some years ago, when BlackBoard was almost ok. But it’s gone thru so many revisions that now it’s just useless!! Or so I hear from the current students…
Meh, kind’ve unimpressed with Watson. After all, it’s a robot, of course it’s going to do better than mere humans.

And, to MrGBH – I agree that when it immediately guesses Beatles songs or the year in which [X] happened, it’s not very revolutionary. But the big deal is how it knows what to look up at all. Being able to understand “natural” human speech – talk in metaphors, riddles,and indirect references – is a huge hurdle in having any sort of machine that can interact with people, on their terms, on a day-to-day basis; to me this was a quite impressive showcase of how far software has progressed.
